Vacancy Number 09-0420 Post Date 11/16/2009 Discipline Project Management Title Senior Airport Planner Description This senior level role will be instrumental in further developing Arup’s US Aviation & Intermodal Station Planning services, with a particular focus on the western US. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing the planning and concept design of complex aviation projects through all phases including preliminary analysis, planning and design for major airport projects in the US and Internationally. This role will liaise with the Aviation Business Leader in the bid process, coordination, integration of project deliverables as well as presenting Arup’s Aviation services, as well as practice and office leaders to staff projects. This role will liaise with our aviation planning group and other aviation leaders and practice and office leaders to deliver projects. The Aviation planner will implement and manage Airport projects from conception through completion with emphasis on project management in early project phases and creating integrated architecture and engineering solutions, and will advise and review projects in later stages to deliver aviation expertise and achieve excellence is solutions. The scope of projects will include all aspects of airport planning and master planning for terminals, landside, and airside gating, parking structures (new and existing), terminal access, and pedestrian traffic. The Senior Aviation Planner will focus on planning, project management, client development, and reviews while working closely with inter-disciplinary teams and external partners. Requirements 10-15 years experience in airport planning, with min 5 years as leader of an aviation planning team. Experience in aviation facility organization, program definition, flight schedule analysis, conceptual and detailed planning phases. Experience in the development of major (over $500m) aviation projects from early planning through to delivery. A track record of airport and terminal plans that have been implemented is required. Experience in preparation of FAA Master Plans, knowledge of environmental review processes, and integrating sustainability into solutions. Familiarity with airport simulation models. Experience with Simulation modeling is a plus. Experience in planning of intermodal rail stations is a plus. The qualified candidate will have existing contacts and relationships within the Aviation Sector, with experience in marketing aviation planning services, winning projects, and delivering projects.
