Vacancy Number 09-0248 Post Date 09/01/2009 Discipline Geotechnical/ Tunnelling Title Tunneling Engineer Description Our San Francisco office is seeking a Tunneling Engineer for the California High Speed Rail Project between Fresno and Palmdale and to support our infrastructure and rail activities in the region. Arup is part of a joint venture for the environmental and preliminary engineering for this 63 mile segment of the project. Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: •Prepare and review drawings detailing the tunnel designs •Prepare tunnel design calculations including numerical analyses •Report writing •Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines •Attend meetings with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them •Visit project sites during construction •Work under nominal supervision for all but demanding work •Take responsibility for definable parts of a project Requirements Requirements: •Masters Degree in Civil Engineering •PE license desired Qualities: •Good communication skills essential for team-based working •Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment •Highly proficient in utilizing the computer to undertake analyses and calculations, prepare reports, and develop drawings and graphics •Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges Apply On-line Apply On-line Send to a Friend Send This Job to a Friend
